The invention relates to a mill (1000) for a granular organic material, comprising a first grinding body (273) and a second grinding body (261) which are arranged in a grinding chamber block (220), a grinding motor (271) for driving the first grinding body (273) and a distance adjustment element for adjusting a distance of the second grinding body (261) relative to the first grinding body (273). A mounting plate (210) on which the grinding motor (271) and a supporting thread carrier (291) comprising the supporting thread (292) are fixedly mounted independently of the grinding chamber block (220) is provided. The mill (1000) can further comprise an electronic control unit (410) for controlling the grinding motor (271) and the actuating motor (281) and can also comprise a user interface, preferably with a touch display (240). The controller can use a detected power of the grinding motor (271) and/or of the servo motor (281). The invention also relates to a method for controlling a mill.
