PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant-derived lactic acid bacterium extracellular polysaccharide showing remarkable ACE inhibitory activity and having no cytotoxicity. SOLUTION: This is a plant-derived lactic acid bacterium extracellular polysaccharide capable of inhibiting angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), and has the characteristics of 1) or 2). 1) The weight average molecular weight is 1.35 × 106 Da, and 2) It is composed of mannose having a molar ratio of 5.6: 7.3: 1, galactose and glucose. The present invention further provides a phosphorylated derivative of a plant-derived lactic acid bacterium extracellular polysaccharide. In addition, hypertension, heart disease, stroke, thrombus, arteriosclerosis, angina, characterized by containing at least one of the plant-derived lactic acid bacterium extracellular polysaccharide and the phosphorylated derivative of the plant-derived lactic acid bacterium extracellular polysaccharide. Further provided are compositions for the prevention and treatment of one or more diseases selected from the group consisting of angina, heart failure and myocardial infarction.
