Kilns. - To allow the waste heat to be utilized in brick and tile kilns of the "Dutch" or "Scotch" type, flues or pipes A are provided connecting the "chimneys'' of one kiln with the interior of another. These flues preferably discharge in the floor of the kiln in which the waste heat is to be utilized. Auxiliary flues H lead from some of the " chimneys to a main shaft or chimney, to produce a draught and thus cause the heated gases to pass through the flues A.
