Microscopes; adjustments. - To obtain greater steadiness, the fine adjustment of microscopes and other instruments is effected by a screw a1, acting through two pivoted levers 1 and 2 upon the body D of the instrument, which works on the usual pillar Bx and is held up against the adjusting-mechanism by a spring C. The lever 2 acts against a loose bearing-pin b. Similar pins may be introduced between the other contacts.
