Smoke-rings, producing.-Smoke-rings are produced for advertising, toys, scientific demonstrations, and other purposes by means of apparatus in the form of a toy gun combined with a representation of the human face, as shown in Fig. 2, or of a toy gun alone, or of a volcano, the head of a person or animal smoking, or of an automaton representing a man who lifts a cigarette to his mouth &c. In Fig. 2, the breech end of the gun a is closed by a plug C having a perforation in which is fitted a holder d. Within the holder is fitted a tube e which is connected at one end by a pipe f with an elastic bulb g, and at the other end of the tube a lighted cigarette e2 is placed within the holder. At the mouth of the gun is a perforation b1 through which, by pressing the bulb, the smoke is ejected in the form of rings.
