摘要
8019. Gantier, A. J. April 5. Music recoders.-Relates to the recording of music played upon keyboard instruments. Lines are marked on a travelling band by rollers or the like, which are brought into operation mechanically or electrically bv the keys, pedals, or stops ; or lines are marked by electro-chermical means on prepared paper which passes between electric terminals, the circuits of which are closed by the keys, pedals, or stops. The lines correspond in length to the duration of the notes, and the record can be translated with the aid of a T-square provided with a number of parallel wires or strings, which shows both the length and position of the note or expression marks. Fig. 8 shows diagrammatically the application to an organ with five manuals, though, of course, simpler applications are possible. One pole of the battery 4 is connected by wires 20 to plates 19, which extend across movable contact-pieces 18 actuated by the keys. The two lowest claviers only have their separate records at A and B respectively, the notes on the three upper ones being referred to either of these by shunts 23, 231. Which of these shunts is brought into operation is determined by the positions of slides 22. The three upper claviers may have also plates 191 in connection with their contact-pieces 18. These communicate with a record C, and merely show which, if any, of the upper claviers are being used, whether independently or coupled to the lower ones.
