16,946. Clarke, T. A. Aug. 4. Cutting and slicing tobacco.-Relates to apparatus for containing, and cutting flakes from, twist or other tobacco in rod or like form. The apparatus, which may be carried in the pocket, is constructed with a tube a, provided at its lower end with a removable cap c secured by a bayonet joint d, and at its upper end with a chamber b to receive a cylindrical cutter carrier i. The tobacco x is placed in the tube and pressed by a spring e against the cutter carrier, which is fitted with adjustable cutters h projecting through slots. The carrier, which is preferably open at both ends. is rotated or oscillated, to cut slices from the tobacco, by means of a milled head i1 at one end.
