Music notation; pianofortes; organs.-To simplify the playing of music on pianofortes, organs, and similar instruments, the keyboard shown in Fig. 3 is employed, and the music is written in a notation comprising the five figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and the five letters A, B, C, D, E. The keys strike the ordinary keys of the instrument, or the keyboard may be fixed to the instrument. Raised pieces of wood h, g or other material in front of the keys group them together in two sets of five. In the notation, an example of which is shown in Fig. 7, spacing is employed to denote time, and the position in the stave indicates the group to which the note is assigned.
