7880. Ford, T., and Ford, T. April 13. Pottery. - A jolleying - apparatus for shaping plates, dishes, saucers, &c. of circular, oval, or other shape is shown in plan in Fig. 2. The jigger spindle a is provided with a head b to receive a suitable mould, on which the clay to be shap:d is placed. Mounted on the spindle a or head b is an oval or other cam e, against which the end of a lever f, pivoted on a vertical column j, is pressed by means of a spring h. The lever f is adjustable in length, and the columnj is capable of adjustment along a graduated slot l in its supporting-base k. A lever p is connected to the lever f, the angle between the two being adjustable if desired. This second lever carries the jolley arm q, which is preferably of the construction described in Specification No. 16,921, A D. 1901. The free end of the lever p may be supported on a slide to prevent strain on the column j. A lever s, pivoted at t, is provided with a bowl u, which is pressed against the cam e by means of a spring v to prevent racing of the jigger spindle. Instead of the lever s a slide may be used.
