Marine governors; fluid relays.-A heavy pendulum operates, by its motion relative to a ship, a pair of rocking valves, admitting steam to and exhausting it from a cylinder containing a piston which operates the throttle valve. Fig. 2 shows the pendulum l1 working the valves g, Fig. 1, through a link k, the length of which can be adjusted ; pointers g3 show the positions of the valves. When the vessel pitches, steam is admitted by the valves g above the piston c, the rod of which carries a valve b. The amount of motion of the piston c is controlled by a spring o, abutting against a spurwheel m which forms an adjustable stop. One valve only may be used instead of two.
