Improvements in the Method of Treating China-clay, Ochre, and similar Materials and Apparatus therefor.

4155. Gee, W. J. Feb. 19. Hyclro - extractors; separators for granular and pulverulent bodies. - China - clay, ochre, &c. are washed and graded in a centrifugal apparatus. A cylinder A is secured on a spindle D by a nut C, the spindle D being hollowed at d, d1 for the entrance of the material to be treated, mixed with water, and for the escape of the water. Longitudinal trays E are placed in the drum and secured together by slips and grooves. The coarsest material is deposited near the inlet, the product being of increasing fineness as the outlet is approached. A hollow tapered bush may be placed in the feed-pipe. The material may be admitted and the water allowed to escape behind a false top and bottom provided on the cylinder, instead of through the spindle.
