Liquid supply controlled by motion of gasholder; distributing liquid over solid in generators.-An acetylene generator comprises a vertical open-ended generating-chamber d in a water-tank a having a gas-bell b. The chamber d is provided with a carbide-holder e with a high back f opposite to a water inlet g3. On the descent of the bell, an interior ring or equivalent device fixed thereto depresses one end of a weighted lever and raises a valve g, admitting a jet of water to the carbide chamber, the jet striking the high back f and being thereby sprayed over the carbide.
