An improved contrivance for intermittently displaying sheets

Plates and the like, travelling.-Sheets c are intermittently displayed by transferring the front one to the back of the contrivance by winding it upon a roller k, and unwinding therefrom with the trailing border of the sheet at the rear of the other sheets. A motor oscillates a rod f and sector g whereby a stop i' rises and carries a cam m and sector o upwards, and rotates a pinion p and arm q so as to lift the upper rod of the front sheet c and deposit it in notches r, from which it is lifted by hooks k1 on the drum k and wound upon the drum. When the rod f sinks, the drum k reverses and lowers its sheet c behind the other ones and, at the same time, lowers the arm q. Notches q2 in the boss q1 of the lever q transfer the sheets c one at a time to the front of the device and leave a space behind the front sheet for illumination purposes. The lamps are controlled by a switch on the spindle p1 so as to be energized during a display-period only. According to the Provisional Specification, the space behind the displayed sheet is obtained by means of a shoulder in the lower wall of each inclined groove, over which the lifting- levers periodically raise one of the sheet-rods. Further, to secure rotation of the roller in opposite directions, a bevel-wheel on it is geared on diametrically opposite sides to two bevel-wheels, one fixed to a spindle, provided with a fixed sprocket-wheel, and the other fixed to a sleeve on the spindle, also provided with a sprocket-wheel., A sprocket-wheel in between these two sprocket-wheels carries a chain, driven by a motor and provided at two separate intervals on each side with two portions of pitch chains, which alternately drive the roller in opposite directions. One of these chain portions may also control the lamp switch.
