23,276. Hamilton, W. L. Nov. 30. Piling material in bulk.-Comprises a method of and means for moving a vehicle by applying a thrust to a track or a longitudinal bar to which the vehicle is secured, more particularly for piling material in bings or heaps. The movable track may be operated by toothed wheels engaging teeth formed in the track, or by friction gear. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the track D is supported upon rails C secured to sleepers B. The track is enclosed by casings A having flanges A1, A2. It is built up of lengths of plate laid on top of each other and riveted together so that the joints in different layers are not in the same vertical line. In a modification, the track may run on rollers and is provided with guide-rollers for the edges as well. Figs. 8 and 9 show the application to the piling of material. The vehicle M runs on rails J laid on the heap, and is secured by struts D2 to the tracks D0, D01 which are moved to cause the vehicle to be pushed out over the head of the heap. A third track D02 may be provided to operate tipplers P containing tubs by gearing R.
