P i l e supports for sheet feeds; registering- devices.-Apparatus for feeding sheets from the top of vertically reciprocating piles is provided with gauges against which the top sheets of the piles are moved when the piles are raised, such gauges being so mounted that the top sheet is adjusted against the same part thereof throughout the feed-off of the whole pile, whereby accurate positioning of successive sheets is ensured. The pile tables 5 are supported on springs 6 from brackets 3 on rods 1a mounted in lugs 2a on a frame 1. The frame 1 is reciprocated vertically, faces 2 thereon riding against guide-rollers, and the rods 1a partake of this movement and have also a successive upward movement controlled from the usual feeler bars 7. Gauges 14, extending through slots in the tables 5 and having a foot engaging a slot in the base 15 of the frame 1, are adjustably secured by a washer 17 and a screw 16 with a pivoted handle. At each upward movement of the piles, the top sheets are moved against the gauges by bevelled rubber or like blocks 12 carried on arms 9, preferably yielding, supported from the feeler bars 7.
