Air locks.-A system of separation doors for preventing escape of ventilation air at a pit head comprises an airtight chamber 1 branching into the shaft 3 and provided with inlet and outlet doorways sealed by revoluble doors 4, 5, which are rotated by gearing 13 and have wing-plates 8 and vanes 7 tracking the walls of the doorways and enclosing pockets to receive the hutches and men. Buffers 14 are provided for the hutches. The doorways may be on different levels, so that the hutches will gravitate through the chamber 1.
