Envelopes, sheaths, and holders, plate and like; R÷ntgen-ray and like apparatus. - A container for films for X-ray photography, more particularly for use in photographing the teeth, is made of material such that it may be bent and will retain the form into which it is bent. As shown in section in Fig. 3, the container comprises a thin back-plate 10 of a ductile metal having its edges 12 bent over to enclose both a film 13 and a front plate 11. The front plate consists of celluloid which is rendered opaque or transparent to red rays only, or of paper or other material which is opaque to light rays but permits the passage of X-rays. The back 10 is preferably made of bismuth, lead, platinum, or other metal of high atomic weight, and is held closely against the film by tightly clinching down the edges 12. In a modification, Fig. 4, the container comprises a metal rim 14 which encloses a back 10a of ductile or pliable material and a front 11a of celluloid or paper. In further modifications, the back may consist of ductile or pliable material faced with a metal of high atomic weight, and the front may be clinched over the back. The container may have rounded corners and may enclose a plurality of films in superposed arrangement.
