Cutting-appliances.-A device such as a safetyrazor, penknife, corn cutter, cigar cutter, or for peeling potatoes or cutting out patterns and cutting furs, paper, &c. comprises a holder b formed of two thin plates secured together and shaped to leave a wedge-shaped space between them, within which a safety-razor blade f is adjustably secured by a set-screw j. The holder is hinged in a handle a formed from two spaced strips, one having a toothed edge h and the other being cut away adjacent the teeth. A shoulder l on the holder ensures the blade being positioned correctly, for use as a penknife. If the blade is adjusted with its edge flush with the edge of the holder, the portion exposed by a semicircular recess or slot k in the holder mav be used as a corn cutter. The handle has a circular hole m, in which a cigar end may be placed to be cut by the closing of the blade within the handle. The device is used as a safety razor with the holder enclosed in the handle and the edge of the blade adjusted relatively to the teeth h. By arranging the blade to protrude between the teeth, the device may be used to cut out patterns &c., the cheeks s at the end of the handle constituting a bearing- surface. A set-screw q is provided in the handle to secure the blade in its adjusted position. To strop the blade, it is arranged in the holder with its edge projecting equally on both sides.
