Axles and axle structures. - T h e rear axle of a motor vehicle is mounted in a structure which forms a three-point spring suspension and carries two elecmotors, each of which drives a rear road wheel through reduction gearing, shown in broken lines in Fig. 3. As shown, a pair of laminated springs 6 are attached at their centres to the chassis a, and, at their ends, by pivoted links 5, to the ends of torque-bars 2, carried at the ends of the axle c. The ends of the tongue bars are connected by angle-iron cross-members u, y, and compensating springs 11, 12 are placed between a bracket 8 at the centre of the rear cross-member and collars on a torque pillar 9 secured to the chassis.
