Boat-lowering gear.-In boat launching gear of the kind in which the boats are handled by a pair of beams mounted in athwartship guides on the underside of a deck and operated by racks on the beams co-operating with worm gear, the worms are mounted on athwartship shafts connected to operating gear. The beams D2, D3, Figs. 3 and 4, slidably mounted in brackets secured to the deck A2 are formed with racks d17 with which gear worms M, M1 keyed to shafts m2, which through pinion gearing and chains m9 are connected to the operating-handles m14 which are interconnected by a shaft so that the beams can be operated by one or both the handles. The boat falls E2, E3 are lead round guide pulleys on the beams and fairleads to the respective drums of a winch F1. In order to bring the boats fully inboard when the ship is docked, a fixed auxiliary beam P, Fig. 5, is provided on which runs a trolly Q with eyes to which chains q4 on the boat are attached, the hauling of the boat inboard being effected by rope q6.
