Pianofortes, adjusting touch of; silencing. - The touch is automatically compensated on operation of the soft pedal, by springs n carried by a longitudinal bar l, which bar is depressed by a button e on a lever e1 connected to the soft pedal rod q so that the springs n are pressed against the keys. The touch may also be controlled by a finger-piece a which depresses the bar l by a system of levers c - - c, c1. Individual adjustment of the springs is obtained by regulating- buttons f. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the longitudinal bar d may be raised by the rod p under hand or foot control to silence the action.
