Prevention of coal dust explosions in coal mines

A composition for laying dust and preventing explosions in coal-mines is made by mixing common salt or ammonium chloride with Epsom salts; a wetting agent is preferably added. Suitably, 10 lb. of the salt mixture dissolved in 10 gallons of water is mixed with 1 lb. of "Perminal W" (Registered Trade Mark) dissolved in 1 gallon of water, and used to treat 60--100 lb. of coal dust.
