470,924. Selective punching-machines. THOMAS, A. Feb. 24, 1936, No. 5520. [Class 31 (ii)] In a punching-machine wherein master cards are read by a reciprocating pin box, a support is provided for a connection box containing elements which serve to transmit movement from the sensing pins to the punch-setting elements and means is provided for lowering the support together with the punch setting elements to permit replacement of the connection box. The support 20 has upstanding edge plates 21 provided with pins 24 and inverted-L-slots 23 ; the connection box 5 runs on and then engages behind the pins 24, while lateral projections 25 on the box ride on the side plates 21 and into the slots 23. A hand lever 34 when raised lowers the support 20 and when lowered resets the punch setting elements to zero. The lever 34 pivoted at 35 carries a pin 36 which engages a slot 37 in an arm 38 loose on a shaft 33 ; a pin 43 on the arm 38 co-operates with two spring-return arms 39, 40 keyed to the shaft 33. Slides 31 moved by an arm 32 on the shaft 33 are provided with pins 30 which engage slots 29 on the support 20 whereby when the hand lever 34 is raised the table is lowered, and when the lever is lowered a resetting bar 44 is operated. Normally, the setting elements are reset to zero after each card has passed by a cam 48 on driving shaft 16 acting through a lever 47 and a link 46 pivoted on the arm 38; displacement of the link 46 by a key 49 renders this mechanism inoperative. Link 46 is rocked clear of the lever 47 when the lever 34 is raised by a member 46a. The hand lever 34 is latched up by a latch 51 and pin 52 and may be released by a key 53 ; it is automatically released by the die member 55 engaging the latch tail 54. The lever 34 is held in normal position by springs 58, 59 on a rod 56.
