[Class 142 (i)] A fast-reed drop-box loom is provided with. a shuttle controlled stop motion modified so that the loom is stopped also when a shuttle is not ejected from the fixed box at the appropriate time. The usual stop rod a is extended and is provided with a bowl engaged by a plate at or immediately after the time of picking so that the rod a is moved sideways and a lever e carried by it is moved out of register with the box swell h. The stop rod is rotated as usual if the shuttle does not enter the fixed box, and upon defect in the picking mechanism resulting in the shuttle remaining in the box, the sideways movement of the rod allows the lever e to move inwardly at the drop box end due to the absence of the shuttle therein. The bowl j may be arranged upon the extension of the rod a, or as shown may be mounted upon an arm jSP1/SP fixed to the rod. The rod-actuating plate is moved to engage the bowl by a tappet upon the bottom driving shaft.
