[Class 17 (i)] An implement for use in the manufacture of covered heels for shoes comprises a knife 1a consisting of a blade mounted lengthwise in a support and means for locating a heel with the centre of its breast in register with the cutting edge. A tread abutment 6a is carried by a slotted bar 6b clamped in adjusted position by a wing-nut 8. Gauges 3 are each inclined to the knife, to position the sides of the heel. The cover C is treated with adhesive and wrapped round the heel with its ends overlapping at the centre of the breast. The overlapping ends are then trimmed by the appliance to make a butt joint. The side gauges may be adjustable.
