Class 146(1) A visible index comprises title strips 1 having tongues 2, 3 protruding on both sides, those on one side not registering with those on the other. The strips are fitted into one another by the tongues 2 of a strip fitting behind those of the next higher strip and the tongues 3 fitting behind the next lower strip. The ends of the strips are fitted beneath guide strips formed along, or by bending over, the edges of a tray-like member 12. The guide strips may be positioned along both faces of the tray. Notches 11 may be formed in the central projections in which the inside edges of flaps 24, 25 engage to prevent lateral displacement of the title strips. An adjustable index tab is provided along' an edge of the device.
