In the single valve circuit arrangement of Specification 716,371 the suppressor grid is negatively biased and arranged to have secondary emission so that anode current pulses are produced of duration equal to the time interval between a positive-going channel pulse being applied to the suppressor grid and the time when a coincident particularly selected channel gate pulse applied to the control grid ceases, due to the time constant of the suppressor grid circuit. The duration modulated pulses across the anode circuit are as before taken off and demodulated through a low-pass filter.
