The lower part, at least, of a pylon forms part of a tetrahedron, the faces of which are isosceles triangles of equal height, the pylon being adapted to rest on the ground on a base c, d, formed by a short side common to two triangles, and a line, e.g. a power line 4, being suspended in a direction parallel to the base c, d. The whole pylon may be a tetrahedron and comprise uprights 5 forming four identical triangles, a beam 3 being supported near the top and carrying the lines 4. The pylon is divided into four portions at the areas 7, 8, 9 so selected that struts 10 ... 13 are of equal length. In a modification, the pylon is truncated at mid-height and the upper half takes the shape of a pyramid near the top of which are side arms, staggered vertically at alternate sides of the pylon, to support power lines.
