PICT:0874444/IV(c)/1 PICT:0874444/IV(c)/2 PICT:0874444/IV(c)/3 PICT:0874444/IV(c)/4 A device for removing samples from a web forming a loop between two winding rollers contained in a pressure vessel comprises a tube displaceable transversely to the direction of movement of the web, and having a radial branch member directed toward the loop of the web in which a cutting member is axially displaceable and rotatable about its axis by means of actuating members operable from the outside of the pressure container and extending through the tube, means also being provided for mechanically transporting out of the pressure container a sample. As shown, winding rollers 1, 2 in cylindrical pressure vessel 14 have a web B looped between them. A tube 12 arranged in sleeve 11 slides axially therein. A radial branch member 13 may be guided by cross-bars 81, 82 and displacement of tube 12 opposite any portion of web B extending between rollers 1, 2. Member 13 houses a cutting member which may comprise a knife ring 20 (Figs. 3 and 4) in which an annular knife 22 is held by means of a screw 21. Ring 20 and knife 22 may be prevented from making pendulum movements by bolt 23 secured to member 13. Knife 22 and ring 20 are articulated over a bolt 15 to an actuating rod 16 extending radially into the tube 12 and guided in a hub 17 so as to be free to effect rotary and axial movements. Rod 16 at its upper end carries a toothed segment 18 and somewhat below this an annular flange 30. A rod 25 extending parallel to the axis of the tube 12 is arranged in the latter so as to be adapted to effect rotary and axial movements with respect to the tube 12. Rod 25 is provided with peripheral grooves or it may carry a worm 19 engaging the p toothed segment 18. Axial shifting of the operating rod 25 in tube 12 may be effected over an operating lever 38 arranged at the end of rod 25 externally of pressure vessel 14 which results in a rotation of the actuating rod 16 and knife 22. Rod 25 further carries a lifting lever 29, the fork-shaped end of which is engaged by the annular flange 30 of rod 16. The upper end of lever 29 mounted on rod 25 is retained from axial shifting by means of lugs disposed in parallel to the rod and contacting both ends of the upper part of the lever is mounted on the rod 25 to rotate therewith and can move axially along the rod. Tube 12 opens into a casing 33 containing a flap 34 controlled by wheel 35, rack 36 and rod 37. Handle 38 controls rotation and axial movement of rod 25. Within a container 39 resides a pull wire 40 for control of knife 22. By pushing in wire 40 a hook 41 attached thereto contacts web B and subsequent turning of handle 38 lowers rod 25 and hence knife 22. Reciprocation of rod 25 results in knife 22 cutting a disc-shaped portion of web B which may be extracted by pull-wire 40.
