Emulsifiable lubricant concentrate and lubricant for the glass distortion or deformation

An emulsifiable mineral oil composition comprises a mineral lubricating oil and the following additives: (1) a mono-ester of a fatty acid having at least 8 carbon atoms in the molecule, and an alkitan, (2) an oil-soluble alkyl or polyalkyl phenoxy polyalkoxy alkanol, (3) a non-abrasive solid lubricant, and (4) a corrosion inhibitor. The lubricating oil may have a viscosity index of at least 80, preferably at least 90, and suitable mineral oil fractions may be obtained from paraffinic, napthenic or mixed base crudes. Additive (1) may be derived from lauric, stearic, oleic, linoleic, and ricinoleic acids, and the alkitans sorbitan, mannitan, xylitan and dulcitan. Esters specifically referred to are sorbitan monolaurate, sorbitan monostearate, sorbitan monooleate, sorbitan monoricinoleate, mannitan monolaurate, mannitan monooleate, and mixtures thereof. Additive (2) preferably has the formula R-phenyl-(-OR1-)n-OR11-OH where n is an integer of 2-6, preferably 3 or 4, R is an alkyl radical of 4-20, preferably 4-12, carbon atoms, and R1 and R11 are alkylene groups, e.g. ethylene or propylene groups. R1 and R11 are preferably the same and preferably ethylene groups. Additives (2) specified are isobutylphenoxytetraethoxy ethanol, diisobutyl phenoxytetraethoxy ethanol, nonylphenoxy tetraethoxy ethanol, octyl phenoxy hexaethoxy ethanol, diisobutylphenoxy tripopoxy propanol, and mixtures thereof, and also nonyl phenoxy-diethoxy ethanol, and diisobutyl phenoxy dipropoxy propanol. Additives (3) specified are various carbon blacks, flake and colloidal graphites, mica, talc, vermiculite, polymeric silicones, sugar, and mixtures of these materials with borax or metal oxides, e.g. lead or titanium oxide. Additive (4) may be an organic or inorganic, e.g. sodium or potassium, nitrite, or a nitrate, chromate, or phosphate (sodium polyphosphate is also referred to) or their amine derivatives, or an amine, hydroxylamine, sodium, potassium, barium, or calcium acetate or propionate. Amine derivatives referred to are hydroxypropylamine nitrite, diisopropylammonium nitrite and dicyclo-hexylammonium nitrite. The corrosion inhibitors may be added to either the oil or the water phase when making an emulsion, and may be kept in suspension in the oil by non-ionic agents or soaps, sulphonates, quaternary ammonium salts or sulphonated fatty acid amides. In addition to the above mentioned additives, antioxidants and anti-wear agents may be present. Anti-oxidants include phenolic and aromatic amine compounds, and mixtures thereof, those specified being 2,4-, 2,3-, 3,4-, 2,6- and 3,5-diamyl phenols, 2,4-dimethyl-6-tert-butyl phenol, 2,6-ditert-butyl-4-methylphenol, 2,6-ditert-butyl-4-methylol phenol, 4,41-methylene bis- (2,6-ditert-butyl phenol), phenyl-alpha-naphthylamine, and phenyl-beta-naphthylamine. Antiwear agents specified are dibenzyl disulphide, chloronaphthamethylxanthate, oleic acid, and glycerol monooleate. The oil compositions may be emulsified with 20-45%, preferably 30-40% by volume, based on the whole emulsion, of water.
