923,578. Measuring electrically. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. April 16, 1959 [May 7, 1958], No. 13029/59. Class 40 (1). In a method of measuring viscosity an agitator is periodically moved through the material under test and the resistance to motion is recorded at least twice at successive intervals of time during each period of agitation, the two measurements being compared to determine the elasticity of the material, i.e. if the measurements are similar the material has no elasticity if they differ the difference is a measure of the elasticity of the material under test. In the preferred embodiment an electric motor is used to drive the agitator and the motor is connected in a bridge circuit the unbalance voltage of which, being dependent on the torque of the motor, is fed to a recording galvanometer.
