An arrangement as described in the parent Specification for clamping the laminations of a transformer core comprising transverse clamping members for the yokes and clamping plates for the limbs pre-set in the manner of arched leaf springs in which the cross-section of the clamping plates has a moment of inertia I = k 1 d4 where k 1 = 0À15 x 10-5 to 1À1 x 10-5 and d is the diameter of the circumscribed circle of the cross-section of the core. Formul[mu] are also given for the length of the clamping limbs and the extent to which they are pre-set out of the straight.
