The process eliminates the subsidiary operations of cutting, closing the bag on the wrong side of the material, and again turning the bag inside out. The device is applicable to a wide range of types of machines. Use is made of one or more auxiliary threads, which can be stronger than the normal knitting thread, is knitted in such a fashion that is a simple matter to close the end of the bag in the fashion of a draw string. Ways of setting out the knitting hooks to achieve this are described.
