PROCESS FOR MAKING TRY SQUARES AND TRY SQUARES OBTAINED BY THIS PROCESS

A try square comprises a stock 1 made from two metallic channel section members 2 joined back to back and formed with projections 4 which space the members 2, a metallic blade 7 fitted in the space between the members 2, the stock 1 being embedded in a coating 11 of synthetic plastics material. The projections 4 of the two members 2 are preferably welded together and the blade 7 is provided with holes 8 in which tabs bent out of the members 2 engage to locate the blade, the tabs being additionally secured by welding. The synethetic coating meterial may be coloured or transparent and preferably extends through openings 15 in the members 2 to increase the rigidity of the coating 11. The edge 12 of the coating is disposed at 90 degrees to the blade 7, and in a modification of the invention the edges of the channel section members may be bent so that they extend to the surface of the coating 11 at the four corners of a section through the stock 1.
