The sliding surfaces between the bore 4 and the rod 6 may comprise different diameter portions 7, 8 providing shoulders 19, 20 which define a chamber 4 into which fluid can be injected at 22 to move the housing 3 in the direction of the arrow. Alternatively, Fig. 3 (not shown), the bearing surfaces 7, 8 may be of the same diameter as the rod 6 apart from its centre section which is enlarged to the diameter of the bore 4 thereby defining two pressurizable chambers for two way adjustment of the roller.
