1400657 Pneumatic conveyers SAUNIER DUVAL 7 June 1973 [7 June 1972] 27193/73 Heading B8A A despatch and receiving station for a pneumatic tube shuttle conveyer comprises inner and outer coaxial part tubes located in a casing the part tubes being relatively rotatable to a position in which the apertures thereof register with a despatch port, a position in which the apertures thereof register with a receiving port and a position in which the part tubes form a tubular chamber for shuttles passing through the station, a member surrounding part of the outer part tube being radially rotatable therewith and urgeable by air pressure to close one of the ports when in register therewith, and means being provided to close the other port. In the figure, outer part tube 9 and inner part tube 10 are rotatable relative to one another to permit shuttle despatch through port 4, shuttle reception through the receiving port closed by valve 19 and shuttle passage. In the position shown, air is allowed to escape towards an air collector tube 21 as a shuttle approaches the station prior to discharge. Lever 14 runs on cam 18 attached to outer part tube 9 to close valve 19 more firmly at this stage and release valve 19 to allow reception of the shuttle when the tube parts are rotated so that their apertures are aligned with the receiving port. Member 11 is rotatablewith outer part tube 9 but is spring mounted thereon to permit the member to perform a sealing function with the walls 6 of despatch port 4 when the air pressure in the station is high, as in the position shown.
