Pb is separated from a mixt. e.g. Cu and Pb of pure metal particles by selectively melting the Pb on a sieve-like shaking grate by exposure to radiant heat. The particles are e.g. cable or other metal scap and the process avoids prodn. of noxious Pb oxides etc and contamination of the e.g. Cu by Pb.
