The knitting sequence is started by a row system stitch followed by alternate rows of round stitches with the forward and rear needle bed until the edge is knitted. Separating zones are created by the use of smooth solid yarns which can be dissolved, in contrast to the fine yarn used in the knitting process. The purpose is to provide an edge which can be attached to knitted or woven fabrics, non-wovens or leather by sewing, adhesion or heat fixing.
