Automatic solute dispenser - producing soln of controllable strength without powder clogging problems

A main stream of solvent/soln., recycled through a filter from a storage tank, is partly diverted to a side stream fed to the top of a funnel (pref. via a spray ring directing jets inwards) into which solute powder is allowed to fall from a hopper, soln. is drawn from bottom of funnel, pref. by a venturi throat in main stream. The hopper may have a reciprocating rotary valve formed from one fixed and one stationary disc, with apertures, corresponding in one position, the pneumatic drive for which is under level control from funnel, and also drives mixing paddles in hopper. Valves and recycling pump may be under control of compsn. in tank. The appts. may be used for dosing chemicals in water treatment.
