1436750 Conveying cigarettes &c HAUNIWERKE KORBER & CO KG 21 Aug 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 39462/73 Heading A2C An apparatus for conveying articles of the tobacco processing industry comprises a rotatable drum 13 having holders 33 for the articles which holders communicate through bores 34 with an annular low pressure chamber 36 which extends circumferentially from a supply point to a discharge point, the chamber 36 being in turn connected to an air intake by a pair of feed pipes 44, 46 formed in a stationery centre 38 the pipes opening into the chamber adjacent the supply and discharge pipes respectively. The flow cross-section of the chamber 36 is less than that of each pipe 44, 46. As shown the apparatus is used for conveying filter groups G, but in modifications may be used for conveying tipping paper or cigarette rods. In the latter case the cigarettes are supplied axially of the drum, brake means being provided on the drum to retard their axial movement (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown).
