Salts of polyhydroxyphenylchromanones, e.g., silymarin or one or more members of the silymarin group, are reacted with a monoaminopolyhydroxy alcohol of the formula R1 HO-CH2-(CH OH)x-CH2-N ANGLE R2 wherein X IS AN INTEGER FROM 3 TO 5; AND R1 and R2 are hydrogen, lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl TO GIVE CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC SALT COMPOUNDS WHICH ARE WATER SOLUBLE WHILE RETAINING A HIGH DEGREE OF MEDICAL EFFECTIVENESS.
