L - Leucyl - L - leucyl - L - valyl - L - tyrosinol and acid addition salts thereof are prepared by reducing an optionally protected Leu-Leu-Val- Tyr-ester, and any protecting group is removed after reduction. Pharmaceutical compositions useful as antihypertensive agents contain the tyrosinol peptide and a diluent and are in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration.
