Puncture proof pneumatic tyres - incorporating several independent inner bladders to reduce the effect of a local puncture

Pneumatic tyres incorporating several inflatable bladders with individual valves and an undulating cross section which can extend to compensate for the collapse of an adjacent bladder and thus continue to support the casing profile. Bladders may be made by pre moulding an undulating tubular profile between a split mould and a mandrel, sticking prefabricated end caps and an inlet tube on to the profile, and completing vulcanisation in a female mould using internal hydrostatic pressure. The fluid inlet tube subsequently serves as the valve seat. For mfr. of tyre which will deflate progressively and which can be used to continue the journey with little or no permanent damage to the casing. Bladders are individually replaceable, take up less less space than a spare tyre. The bladders are adaptable to suit casings of various sizes by dilation or by varying the numbers used thus reducing garage stock space and variety for replacement sizes.
