Industrial smell comparator - reduces subjective error in evaluating olfactory threshold to malodours

Smells to be compared for intensity are carried in diluting, pure air to two nose mask respirators, which can be used by members of a 'nose pawl' in rapid succession. The proportion of fume sample to pure air is controllable for each respirator, and the sample to one respirator can be untreated industrial exhaust fumes while the sample to the second respirator is from the same fumes after a purification treatment. The comparator facilitates the collection of a mass of data for statistical analysis which can reduce subjective errors which might arise from individuals with varying olfactory sensitivities.
