1499403 Applying characters to a sheet C A NORDENSTAM 4 April 1975 [9 April 1974] 13953/75 Heading B6C A device which facilitates the application of individual characters to a sheet in their desired positions, comprises a support 1 having raised 'rims 11, 12 with parallel inner edges 13, 14 defining an area 2 for the reception of a sheet or strip of paper, or, preferably, for a tablet 5 slidable between the edges 13, 14, and supporting a sheet 6. The device also incorporates a transparent cover 3 hinged to rim 11 and provided with a transverse slot 9. The lower edge 9b of slot 9 is provided with a ruled scale 10, while the tablet 5 may be provided with at longitudinal scale 7 co-operating with index means 8 on rim 12. In use, the scales assist line- and letter-spacing of characters, which .are preferably individually applied from a transfer sheet -on to sheet 6. In alternative embodiments the tablet 5 can be dispensed with, and a strip of paper fed between reels at opposite ends of support 1.
