1473481 Purification of waste water by flotation SWIFT & CO 13 Jan 1975 [11 Feb 1974] 1327/75 Heading C1 Waste waster is clarified by forming in excess of 10SP4/SP microbubbles (i.e. 10-500 microns) of gas/litre therein to form a buoyant embryo floe of bubbles and foreign particles, adding a polyelectrolyte to the embryo floe to form a buoyant separable floe and thereafter separating the floe from the water. The microbubbles are preferably generated by electrolysis of the water. Specified polyelectrolytes are copolymers of acrylamide or methacrylamide and acrylic or methacrylic acid. In examples tannery waste streams are treated by the process.
