Ink jet printer with turbulence eliminated within electrode - has openings in electrode side parallel to ink stream

The electrode has a tubular housing of rectangular cross-section which is open at both ends. Two holders located within the housing support the two electrode halves and have suction extraction connections. The electrode halves are made of porous material and have intermediary end gaps serving respectively as an inlet and outlet for the ink jet. A high voltage impulse between the electrode halves and the ink causes an ink droplet cloud to form within the electrode. The droplets are deposited on the halves and extracted through the suction connections. In order to counteract this reduced pressure, openings are provided along the longitudinal side of the housing.
