Cellulose from wood pretreated with sulphite - and energetic electrons giving improved sepn of lignin and cellulose

Cellulsoe mfr. partic. for textile use, involves a combination of (a) pretreatment of wood shavings with aq. bisulphite or sulphite of an alkali NH3 or alkali earth, with (b) irradiation with charged particles and partic. electrons. The wood shavings can be stored after pretreatment. Sepn. of lignin and cellulose is more complete giving less coloured prod.
