In the necessary elastic bandage a manometer is incorporated to provide an easily visible indication that the arterial circulation is continuing in the member whose venous flow has been stilled, a matter of first importance in determining the duration of a treatment. The treatment is typically applied to the knee. The needle of the manometer can be seen held within a hand's breadth of a firm elastic bandage. The needle is mounted as an asymmetrical lever to increase the visible movement. Warmth is applied by a heating element kept in place by a garter.
