Non-streaky synthetic polyamide dyeing - with acid dyes in presence of sulphones first at alkaline and then acid pH

Dyeing of synthetic polyamides with acid dyes at pH 5-8 in presence of sulphones prepd. from (a) 1-30 % of at least one 6-20C cpd. contg. =1 aromatically bonded OH gp. and (b) 99-70% of at least one 6-20C aromatic non-phenolic cpd with use of H2SO4 and contg. =1 -SO3H gp. bonded to Ph, is started at pH 8-11 and completed conventionally at pH 5-8. Process is esp. for dyeing polyamide 6 and 66 as woven or knitted goods, tufting ware, yarn skeins or cheeses and carpets. Dyeings are non-streaky, separate pre-treatment in acid pH range is obviated.
